Business Development Update

Yesterday, Dean Monske, President and CEO of Regional Growth Partnership (RGP) Northwest was on site for a tour. For a bit about who RGP is, review what their “About” section on their website says:

The Regional Growth Partnership is the lead economic development group serving the Toledo region and 17 counties of Northwest Ohio. As a 100 percent privately led organization, the RGP focuses on meeting the site selection needs of corporate clients in a confidential, innovative and time-sensitive manner. Serving as a true regional and private group, the RGP is not bound by political jurisdictions, allowing us to act in the best interest of businesses each and every time.

One Energy’s Wind for Industry® solution can be a key economic development tool for their team as they look at bringing in new companies to the area. Dean recognizes that and wants to find ways One Energy and the RGP can work together. The RGP can be a key COI for us in northwest Ohio and open doors for us.
An initial call with North Star Blue Scope is scheduled for today with Jake Reinbolt, their Environmental Coordinator at the plant.  North Star is a mega user and is located in Delta Ohio.

On Thursday I will be out attending an OMA committee meeting in Cleveland.  It’s a great opportunity for One Energy to attend this specific meeting, since it will be held at ArcelorMittal, a whale in the scouting queue.

One Energy is moving forward with International Paper; we have a conference call with the company this coming Friday to discuss the Eaton, Ohio IE.

      September Production Reports – 2017

All projects, with the exception of Cooper Farms, under-performed compared to their anticipated P50 production value. This was likely due to a lower wind resource compared to the 30 year average.

Significant downtime for the Ball project was due to water and sewer installation. Goldwind maintenance began with Ball Z2 but Z1, Z3, Harpster, and Whirlpool were all moved to October. Maintenance of all projects should be completed by November

WHALEBOARD STATUS: Harpooning – In Progress

One Energy met with Paragon Tempered Glass on Thursday of last week. Those attending from Paragon were Terry O’Rourke (President), Dan Wright (VP of Sales, will become President at the first of the year), Tim Copsey (Sales), and Matt McGinnis (VP of The Cypress company, the parent of Paragon). The meeting went well; by the time we returned, they had sent over their utility bill and contract from their third-party provider.
Paragon is in the Village of Antwerp, and surrounded by the big wind farms out in that area. Paragon uses 14,500,000 kWh annually. We will site two turbines initially. Hank was onsite Friday flying the drone for our video.

        Village Scouting

Shout-out to Katie, who sent over a scouting request for two companies: Archer Daniels Midland and Cargill. Also to Julie, who inquired about a Michigan company. Please remember to be on the lookout for companies who can use wind turbines.

        Marion Construction Update

Last week we flew the rotor for W1 in Marion.

        New Office Construction Update

The new parking lot is now open to use. Please take heed to the notes below.

        1. We will still have some cones up to stop truck traffic. Enter between the cones.
        2. Stay to your RIGHT. You should never have to cross traffic, the site is a right-hand loop.
        3. REVERSE ANGLE PARKING: All of the parking is reverse angle parking. You have to back in. Pull past the spot you want and back in.
        4. There are 200 spots…. If you are uncomfortable with reverse angle parking then please skip a space and give yourself plenty of room.
        5. Watch your speed and stay on the pavement.
        6. We won’t have signs or lights for another week. Please use caution.
