Business Development Update

The focus this week on Business Development Tuesday is on last week’s business development  and  networking activities:

MARS PETCARE, LEIPSIC PLANT
Status: Harpooning; In-Progress
Mars Petcare meeting on 7/14/17

  • The meeting involved Michael Johnson (Plant Lead) and Patrick Cunningham (Reliability Manager) from the Leipsic plant as well as Winston Chen (Renewable Energy Manager) from Mars Corporate.
  • The meeting went very well and Mars has been moved to the In-Progress stage on the Whaleboard; the PPT team has begun the Initial Evaluation.

NETWORKING ACTIVITIES

  • One Energy has become a member of the Fulton County Area Economic Development group. Matt Gillroy is the Executive Director and has been helpful in scouting activities; Matt introduced Sauder to OE.
  • Met with Jarred Ebbing, the community Economic Development Director for Mercer County, located just north of Darke County (where the Greenville Whirlpool project will be). Jarred is very interested in having our Wind for Industry® project as a “tool” as he goes on retention calls with current industry leaders, or as he is courting new business opportunities. The next day, Jarred sent One Energy six companies he thought may be good candidates for a project.
  • One Energy will become more actively involved with our ED directors as we continue to find ways to become community partners by helping the directors attract new businesses and retain current ones. As shown in our previous projects, our customers have not only demonstrated commitment to the communities they are in, but there has been job creation and expansion associated with the turbines’ announcements.

New Office Construction Update

Several small concrete pours were completed this past week for the electrical raceway to be put into the main floor.

These two photos were taken Friday evening to show the detail before the main floor pour.

One Energy and Unicorns

To: All Employees

A Unicorn is a mythical creature characterized by a horse-like figure with a horn and the ability to fly. According to mythology, they are very rare.

A Unicorn Company is a young private company with a billion-dollar valuation. There are currently 192 Unicorn Companies in the world. Unicorn companies include Dropbox, Airbnb, SpaceX, DJI, Spotify, Hulu, Slack, and Bloom Energy. There are currently 48 unicorns in the US.

Unicorn Companies are in our every day. Unicorn Companies are changing the world. They are the fast-growing innovators and market-makers. They are companies that are inventing the world’s tomorrow.

One Energy is not a Unicorn Company… yet. We are a Unicorn-Track Company. And, by the end of 2020, I expect to be a Unicorn Company.

Everything we do needs to be measured to that standard. And everything you do needs to be measured to that standard.

In everything we do at One Energy, we must ask ourselves: Is this good enough for a Unicorn-Track company? Is this good enough for a Unicorn?

Yes, I know that just a few months ago we are fighting for every dollar and had 30 and 60-day failure horizons. I know that 3 years ago we had 10 people. I know that last year we were a “start-up” and a “small business”. I know that we are working out of a trailer park.

We need everyone to get over that. We need everyone to put the past behind us. Everything changed in December last year and everything is different now.

We are building a Unicorn. It is in our reach and I need your help to do it. I need you to change your mindset. I need you to change our culture. I need you to challenge each other to this standard. I need you to raise that bar. I need you to challenge me. I need you to walk like a Unicorn. I need you to talk like a Unicorn. The way we stay on track to being a Unicorn is by acting like one, every second of every day from this day forward.

Every single one of you was hired with this vision in mind. I believe you are good enough to be on a Unicorn team. But I also believe that all of us, myself included, need to grow to our full potential to successfully build a Unicorn.

Very Respectfully,
Jereme Kent
Chief Executive Officer
