Congratulations to Ben and Andrew for passing their NREMT exams.  Liz and Erin are up next to take their tests this Friday and next Monday, respectively.

Great work in finishing this test sooner rather than later after training.

Business Development Update

This week’s focus for Business Development Tuesday is on LafargeHolcim.

In July of 2015, Lafarge and Holcim merged to become the world’s leading global building materials and solutions company.  Together, LafargeHolcim has the assets necessary to address the current global challenges of their customers.

LafargeHolcim addresses these challenges by providing what really matters: spaces to live and learn, places to rest and work, infrastructure that facilitates mobility, and innovations that maintain energy supplies. These are the main missions of building materials, particularly those of cement, aggregates, and concrete solutions.

The company’s U.S. headquarters are located in Chicago, Illinois with locations in over 80 countries. See below for a summary of their business overview.

One Energy began conversations with their Paulding cement plant in the spring of 2016. A three turbine project would offset just over 12,500,000 kWh, which is roughly 20% of their usage.  This particular project is very appealing to OE due to the following:

  •  FAA clearance
  •  Lafarge owns the land
  •  Paulding County has multiple wind projects in operations
  •  Utility is AEP

One Energy has proposed a two-tiered rate schedule that allows both of us to meet our goals. The rate will have a lower fixed cost per kilowatt for the first 5 years and then adjust to a fixed rate for year 6-20.  Please check out their initial evaluation in the project development folder for more details on the project.

New Office Construction Update

As indicated in the OE Tech gathering on Friday, ACI has completed Phase 1 of the project and demobilized for a short period of time.  We met with them last week to finalize some of the mechanical drawings and their contractors for electrical and mechanical will be onsite within the next couple of weeks.

ACI will be in the office on Wed and Thurs for follow up meetings.  If any questions on the building and current status, please ask Rebekah.
