Benefit Update

Next week is the end of Q1, and is a perfect time to review how you are using your health benefits.  Most of you have signed up for medical, dental and vision (if applicable) benefits through United Healthcare and Guardian.  The first part of the year is an excellent time to take inventory of your health and take advantage of using the preventative care available through your benefit program.

  • Medical Benefits
    • Baseline physicals and preventative screenings
      • Your policy has free preventative procedures available.  When making your appointment, be sure to ask about them so they can code and bill appropriately.
      • This is a great way to watch your health by having an annual physical and baseline screenings, for you and your family (if applicable).
    • If you haven’t selected a local doctor?  Please take some time to login to UHC website and review available physicians in the network.  If you need any assistance or recommendations, check with Rebekah and/or your fellow co-workers.
      • I understand this can be a daunting challenge but is essential to managing your health. Schedule a time to do this soon!
  • Dental Benefits
    • Again, there are preventative treatments available at minimal to no cost; cleanings, baseline x-rays, etc.
    • And sometimes dentists can see medical issues sooner than your general practitioner.  Take the time to care for your teeth, at minimum schedule your bi-annual cleanings.

If you have any questions about using your medical, dental and vision benefits, please check with Rebekah.  I don’t want you to waste this valuable benefit by either not understanding it or being afraid.

Business Development Update

Development is working with a number of companies internally dubbed, the “Greenville cluster”.  These companies include the following:

  • Whirlpool–Greenville location
  • TAME Ethanol Plant--a joint venture between Marathon and The Andersons (The Andersons Marathon Ethanol)
  • Continental Carbonic
  • PolyOne
  • Greenville Technologies

Greenville is a small community located over 90 minutes southwest of Findlay in Darke County.   We have current communications with the first three companies and working on introduction to this PolyOne location and Greenville Technologies.

We are in the process of completing a Detailed Evaluation for the Whirlpool Greenville plant.

Continental Carbonic is one of the largest manufacturers of dry ice and suppliers of dry ice blasting machines with 40 locations throughout U.S. and Canada.  Continental Carbonic uses the Co2 gas bi-product from the TAME ethanol plant next door in the making of their dry ice.

Due to their proximity and massive use of electricity, we are in the process of retrieving utility data in order to complete Initial Evaluations for both prospects.
